Jan Daniel

Postdoctoral Researcher


Jan Daniel is a postdoctoral researcher at Peace Research Center Prague and a Senior Researcher at the Institute of International Relations Prague.

At Peace Research Center Prague, Jan is a part of the Middle East Research Group (MERG).


Research focus

Jan focuses on international politics and security in the Middle East (with a particular specialization on Lebanon and Syria), politics and practices of international interventions in the region, Czech and European foreign policy towards the Middle Eastern countries, and the debate on hybrid warfare.

From a theoretical standpoint, he is primarily interested in anthropological and post-structuralist approaches to international politics and international political sociology.

BACKGROUND

Jan obtained his Ph.D. in International Relations at the Institute of Political Studies at Charles University. He has been a visiting researcher at the European University Institute, Free University of Berlin, American University of Beirut, and Orient-Institut Beirut.
