Despite frequent talk of nuclear escalation since 2022, most Russian nuclear messaging was not about explicit nuclear threats, but about amplifying uncertainty and fear, while Western leaders consistently tried to dampen escalation. The PRCP and SWP have recently published a working paper that systematically tracks nuclear signaling from Russia and NATO, tracing how these dynamics have evolved since autumn 2021 to January 2025.
Come join us on January 27th in Kavárna Na Boršově where we will introduce the study and discuss its implications it with the authors!
The discussion will be with:
Liviu Horovitz (SWP Berlin, co-author)
Larissa Kirstein (SWP Berlin, co-author)
Michal Smetana (Peace Research Center Prague, co-author)
Barbora Chaloupková (Deník N) will be moderating the discussion.
