Join us for a session of the PEACE Webinar Series, exploring prevalent, and sometimes misleading, ideas about emerging technologies in the fields of peace and security. It will cover issues ranging from military AI, biological weapons to ideas on military spending and peace. Ultimately, speakers will unpack how faulty thinking about technology and security and its implications unfold in public discussions.
The webinar will feature the following topics:
AI and Biological Weapons: Separating Misconceptions from Reality. Presenter Veronika Klymova researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt. Her work focuses on international norms on biological and chemical weapons, AI governance, and moral psychology.
Misconceptions about whether and if more security will translate to more peace. Presenter Dr. Evelyne Tauchnitz senior Lecturer at the University of Lucerne and Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). Her expertise includes ethics of technology and AI, political philosophy, and peace and security.
Responsible AI in Military Contexts: From Capability to Accountability. Presenter Dr. Thomas Reinhold researcher in international security and arms control, specialising in the militarisation of cyberspace and AI technologies.
The session will be moderated by Zakir Rzazade.
The main goal is to offer an open space for all participants’ questions. The speakers will engage in a Q&A session, reflecting on the intersections of emerging technologies, peace, and security. For organisational purposes, please confirm your attendance using the following form.
